Ways to Make Money Using Your Car

Okay! So you need some extra cash. Maybe you’ve tried making money online – you’ve tried blogging, affiliate marketing, selling on eBay and Amazon. But it’s not as easy as you’d imagined. Have you ever thought about trying to find a way to make money using your car?

There are tons of ways in Arizona to make money by driving your car – in the digital age, people LOVE to use the internet to have things delivered quickly, or catch a ride. So why not take advantage of that?

Everyone knows about Uber, the world’s most popular ridesharing app that has helped millions of car owners earn a good, consistent part-time income.

But Uber is not the only app that can help you monetize your vehicle in Arizona. There’s Lyft, Postmates, Doordash, Turo and many more. Even Amazon has gotten into the game, with Amazon Prime Now/Amazon Flex.

Remember: When you work for these companies, you’re an independent contractor or a freelancer, not an employee. So you can switch from one app to another if you like with no obligation or reprocussions.

Here are a few different ways to make money using your car:

Ridesharing Apps

Ridesharing apps match people who need a ride within the city with car owners who can share a ride with them. This is a very good example of an on-demand service, where drivers can decide who and when they want to serve.

Ridesharing apps take out a commission from the drivers’ fare, which could be anything from 10 to 15 percent. They offer a number of different incentives, reward programs and attractive fee structures to beat the competition.

Here’s a look at the most popular ridesharing apps.

#1: UBER – Uber is without question one of the the best ways to make money from your car. It is the world’s most dominant ridesharing app and one of the most successful startups of all time. The driver pay depends on many factors such as the distance and time of the trip, surge pricing during peak traffic hours, rewards and promotional offers and the commission charged by Uber.

#2: LYFT – Lyft is Uber’s biggest competitor, and has been around since 2012. Lyft has the same pricing, pay structure and incentives for drivers as Uber. The big difference is that it isn’t quite as global, and is far more driver-friendly. It’s a company that seems to care a little more about its customers and contractors.

Food Delivery Services

Food delivery services are just as big as ridesharing apps. These apps let customers order food from many restaurants in the city and make the payment through the app. Apart from the cost of the food itself, customers pay extra for the delivery service.

Food delivery apps don’t have any drivers of their own. Anyone with a car can sign up as a delivery driver with them. They usually have an attractive pay structure and incentive for drivers.

#1: GRUBHUB: Grubhub is available in more than 1,200 cities across the country, including Phoenix, Arizona. You can make up to $25 an hour as an on-demand driver for this food delivery app. You will be paid for each delivery, plus tips and the mileage fee.

#2: Postmates: Postmates is another food delivery service popular in Arizona. As an on-demand driver working for this platform, you can set your own schedule. Your earnings will depend on three factors: distance between the pickup spot and drop-off location, base rate per order and wait time at the pickup spot. Plus the tips, of course; that’s all yours.

#3: DOORDASH: DoorDash is similar to the two food delivery apps discussed above, except that anyone who works as an on-demand driver for them will have to pass a background check.  The pay structure varies from one city to another.

#4: AMAZON FLEX: Amazon Flex is a new Uber-like platform from Amazon, where they hire contract workers to provide instant delivery services for food, groceries and other items ordered on Amazon Prime Now, AmazonFresh and Amazon Restaurants. It is not a high-paying job by any means, but can provide you with a decent part-time income.

Car Sharing Services

Car sharing services allow car owners to list their vehicles on their apps, so that people can rent them when they are not in use. It’s similar to a car rental service, and you will earn a commission on each booking.

TURO: Turo is a car sharing service available in Arizona. Car owners earn an average of $720/month from the rental bookings on Turo. You can fix your own schedule and rental price.
